The Lattice ORAN solution stack enables rapid ORAN deployment by providing solution for robust security (encryption, authentication, root-of-trust), flexible fronthaul synchronization (ORAN functional split options, IEEE 1588, eCPRI, TSN), and low power hardware acceleration for functions such as MACsec/IPsec, and 5G-ORAN small cell. These are all needed as the wireless network converges to a new paradigm of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and disaggregation.
Lattice ORAN 1.0 stack released in 2022 provided solution for the growing security threat that SDN and massive disaggregation expose.
Lattice ORAN 1.1 stack covers the timing and synchronization requirements needed in various 3GPP/ORAN split deployment topologies. The solution provides tight, secure, and flexible synchronization based on IEEE 1588v2 PTP Protocols & ITU standards. It supports multiple timing sources (DPLL/OCXO, and GNSS) and supports PCIe & 10 G Ethernet. This ORAN1.1 solution stack supports the following IEEE/ITU standards fully embedded on Lattice FPGA:
- IEEE Standards
- IEEE Std 1588™-2019 default profile
- IEEE Std 802.1AS™-2020 for Time Sensitive Network (TSN)
- ITU-T Telecom Profiles
- Frequency synchronization (G.8265.1)
- Phase/time synchronization with full timing support (G.8275.1),
- Phase/time synchronization with partial timing support (G.8275.2)
- ITU-T Timing Characteristics of T-BC, T-TSC Class C (G.8273.2)
The Lattice ORAN 1.1 solution stack incorporates a hardware platform, 1588 PTP soft and hard IPs, easy to use evaluation and demo kit, Lattice Propel and Radiant software design tools, reference design, and demonstrations as well as custom design services as required.
