Lattice And Intellivision Announce Intelligent HD Video Analytics For The HDR-60 Camera Development Kit At ISC West

Video Analytics with Lattice HDR-60 Video Camera Development Kit Improve Time to Market for 1080p Camera Applications

HILLSBORO, OR – March 27, 2012 – Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that it will be demonstrating a LatticeECP3™ FPGA-based video camera supporting intelligent HD video analytics from IntelliVision at Lattice booth 2140 at the ISC West Conference in Las Vegas, March 28-30, 2012.

The low cost, low power LatticeECP3 FPGA on the HDR-60 Camera Development Kit integrates a complete suite of intelligent video analytics from IntelliVision combined with the IONOS ISP pipeline from Helion GmbH, enabling the design of low cost, small form factor smart cameras. The LatticeECP3 FPGA can interface directly to a variety of HD sensors, process the image for intelligent analytics and output the video through its high-speed I/O or through a combination of its integrated SERDES channels, making the solution very compelling for security and, in particular, HDcctv camera applications.

The intelligence suite developed by IntelliVision allows OEMs easy access to a host of features that will not only allow for product differentiation but will help developers and manufacturers easily create a "Smart Security Camera." The suite includes intelligent video motion detection (iVMD), which can differentiate between an animal and a person, sending alerts only when necessary. Intelligent Intrusion Detection (IID) sends alerts when someone opens a door or enters a restricted space. With the Camera Tamper Detection (CTD) function, one can be alerted and act accordingly if a camera has been moved, blocked or knocked out of focus.

Bringing these video analytics features to the edge of the surveillance network can relieve server strain and allow for greater scalability, because fewer servers are required to keep the security network operating at its full potential. In addition, the functionality that has been added to the HDR-60 Camera Development Kit makes the surveillance infrastructure more efficient. Not only are costs saved on servers, but false alarms and human errors can be reduced, offering better security at a lower cost. Security is also improved due to proactive surveillance. For example, the camera can send an alarm so action can be taken immediately, rather than forensically reviewing the video only after the security breach has occurred.

"We are delighted to have been selected by Lattice Semiconductor to develop their onboard analytics solution. We know they had their choice of many video analytics companies. IntelliVision's analytics and the innovative LatticeECP3 FPGA will work together to allow all camera vendors to develop smart cameras quickly and easily. Lattice Semiconductor is a pleasure to work with, and we look forward to their continued success," said Steve Viegas, Director, OEM Sales at IntelliVision.

"We are continuously expanding our HDR-60 ecosystem. We are excited to have collaborated with IntelliVision to provide video analytics for our LatticeECP3 FPGA family," said Kambiz Khalilian, Lattice Strategic Marketing Manager for Cameras and Displays. "Our comprehensive sensor-to-display FPGA-based image signal processing solution, combined with intelligent video analytics algorithms from IntelliVision, provides an ideal platform for OEMs to develop smart security cameras."

In addition to the HDR-60, visitors to Lattice booth #2140 at ISC West can see demonstrations of various image sensor bridges and a dual image sensor design. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with Lattice senior executives and technical specialists about their own camera design requirements.

Pricing and Availability

The video analytics demo bitstream, including GUI and documentation, will be available for download March 31 at http://www.latticesemi.com/hdr60. The download is free for current and new customers of the Lattice HDR-60 Video Camera Development Kit. The video analytics IP can be licensed directly from IntelliVision.
