CrossLink-NX Brings Benefits of Lattice Nexus Platform

Want to improve performance of your embedded vision and edge applications while keeping power consumption low? See how Lattice’s CrossLink-NX bridging device can help you meet your latest design goals. The first product designed using Lattice’s new Nexus platform, CrossLink-NX offers designers up to a 75% reduction in power consumption compared to competitive FPGA-based solutions. It also improves reliability with up to 100X reduction in soft error rates and a product form factor up to 10X smaller. Moreover, to accelerate your design, CrossLink-NX is supported with the Radiant 2.0 development tool that provides an easy to use development environment that is complemented with proven IP blocks and application reference designs. Implement more complex designs, faster!

Lattice Nexus Opens Door to Lower Power Operation

Ready to take the next step forward in edge application design? If so, then you need to take a close look at Lattice Nexus Platform, Today’s edge solutions supporting the hottest trends in product development need a platform that is designed from the get-go to deliver innovations at every level of design from solutions and architecture to individual circuits. Leveraging a proven 28-nm fully depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) process technology developed by Samsung, Lattice Nexus delivers industry-leading low power operation while supporting higher levels of performance, smaller product footprints and higher levels of reliability. This exciting new platform promises to bring power efficient performance to applications ranging from AI, video hardware security and embedded vision. Check out the details here.

New Blog: An FPGA Primer

Who says history doesn’t matter? As Bob O’Donnell, president and chief analyst at TECHnalysis Research LLC notes in a recent blog post entitled “An FPGA Primer”, as industries mature and customer demands grow increasingly sophisticated, chip makers tend to specialize. Case in point is the recent evolution of FPGAs. Originally developed in the 1980s as an alternative to the high NREs associated with ASICs, FPGAs built their early reputation as ICs that allowed designers to add new capabilities and address flaws in existing products in the field. Today FPGAs are evolving in a new direction. Developers are focusing on either the high-powered computation required for data center applications or the uniquely low-power demands implicit in today’s edge applications. Find out more about the future evolution of FPGAs here.

Radiant 2.0 Adds Key Enhancements

While hardware gets most of the attention in FPGA product announcements, software tools play a key role in the rapid and efficient development of solutions. Lattice’s latest design tool package, Radiant 2.0, offers an excellent example. The new tool set gives developers an easy-to-follow user experience by leading the developer clearly from design creation through importing IP, implementation, bitstream generation and download to the FPGA. New features include an on-chip debugging tool that lets developers conduct bug fixes in real-time, improved timing analysis, a new engineering change order editor that supports incremental changes, and a simultaneous switching output calculator that analyzes the signal integrity of individual pins.
