PCB Design Support


Lattice Semiconductor supports PCB design with design advice and interface features of ispLEVER software. Schematic Design

Lattice supports schematic entry of PCB designs with a variety of FPGA and CPLD symbols in the OrCAD Capture library format (OLB). Many popular schematic editor vendors including Altium, Cadence, and Mentor Graphics can translate OLB. ispLEVER also supports pin/signal (CSV) import/export of any FPGA project using the Design Planner application.


PCB Layout

Lattice supports PCB layout with documentation to help the CAD engineer choose the library decal/footprint appropriate for the target device and PCB manufacturing environment. This section includes mechanical specifications for device packages, layout recommendations, and manufacturing guidelines.


Signal Integrity

Lattice supports signal integrity (SI) analysis at the PC board-level using IBIS or HSPICE format models. IBIS is a standard support by all popular SI analysis tool vendors including: Cadence, Mentor Graphics, and Zuken. Design-specific IBIS models for an FPGA project can be generated from the ispLEVER Project Navigator or you may download general purpose models by family from the link below. For high-speed interfaces over 1GHz the HSPICE I/O Kit is available on a request basis.

  • HSPICE I/O Kit – Synopsys HSPICE compatible I/O models.


Power Management

Lattice supports power and thermal analysis with advice and the Power Calculator application provided with ispLEVER. The Power Calculator allows you to estimate power consumption in a variety of environmental conditions using device utilization and signal toggle rates. The analysis reports will provide guidelines for power supply requirements and PCB thermal planning.
