Wireline Access Solutions

Wireline access technologies are rapidly evolving to support the implementation of new, advanced services. These technologies are being deployed by a proliferation of emerging service providers. Among those technologies are Voice over Packet (VoP), xDSL, and Cable services. However, it is expected that many of these access networks will also support telephony services such as Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS). Keys to success in this segment are time-to-market, cost, flexibility to handle evolving standards, and reliability that consumers are accustomed to traditional phone service.

Two important technologies in wireline access are Media Access Gateways and Cable Modem Termination Systems. Media Access gateways allow service providers to aggregate multiple services like video, data, voice and fax into a single box. Cable providers are upgrading their networks to support data and voice traffic over traditional CATV infrastructure.

Lattice offers a variety of programmable logic products that meet these requirements and will allow designers to quickly implement new systems to take advantage of emerging applications like VoP and Video-on-Demand.
