Computerized Axial Tomography

Documents & Downloads

Computerized Axial Tomography equipment has 2 sections:

The gantry - The donut shaped structure with the table (where the patient lies) that extends into the donut hole. It houses the X-Ray source and an array of CCD cameras to capture the images. The images captured by the CCD cameras are transmitted to the base station through "Slip Rings" using high-speed (>2 GB/s) serial links.

Base station - The operator Console and display station where the pictures are analyzed. The base station communicates with the gantry electronics by high speed data communication over Slip rings. The gantry interface card enables communication between the base station and the gantry through a high-speed serial link.
