Overview
China's new environmental legislation called "Measures for the Administration of the Control of Pollution by Electronic Information Products" became effective on March 1, 2007. This new directive is similar to that of the European Union's Restriction on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment, and restricts the use of hazardous substances (Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers).
There are no product exemptions to this new requirement and any end system sold in China starting March 1, 2007 must have one of the following two labels:

- (1) China RoHS logo
- none of the homogenous material (HM) in any parts within the end system exceeds the Maximum Concentration Value (MCV) for any of the six restricted substances.

- (2) Environmental Friendly Use Period (EFUP) logo
- the lowest EFUP of those HM that exceeds the MCV.

In order for a system vendor to properly evaluate the EFUP for their system, they must first know the EFUP for all of the component parts of their system. Consequently, system vendors will be requesting a Material Content Declaration Sheet from their suppliers. This Material Content Declaration Sheet must be in the Chinese language.
Lattice will comply to the China RoHS directives and make available for download the Material Content Declaration Sheets for Lattice devices.
