What is the difference between -M and the device speed grade HOLD analysis?

-M speed grade HOLD analysis is a more conservative analysis of HOLD times in a design when compared to the device speed grade HOLD analysis.

HOLD analysis, in general, results in the worst case HOLD. However, in some cases, the worst case HOLD occurs in the device speed grade analysis. It is recommended that users perform both -M and the device speed grade HOLD analysis. This way, all worst case are covered.
