Consumer Advanced Technology Attachment (CE-ATA) is an industry-standard, based on the Multimedia Card Association ATA (MMC-ATA) electical interface, that uses an optimized subset of the ATA command set to improve performance for multimedia digital storage applications in handheld and consumer electronic devices. The CE-ATA interface enables better integration including lower pin count, better power utilization, a more efficient command protocol, and voltages tailored for battery-based applications. With CE-ATA, small form-factor hard disk suppliers can develop products optimized for the handheld and consumer electronics markets built on a standard interface which facilitates commonality in design and enables economies of scale.
The IPR-CE100C core is an industry-standard CE-ATA device storage device interface core created to enable fast adoption of the CE-ATA storage interface communication standard. It is designed to be connected to a CE-ATA to receive CE-ATA-structured commands and data. The protocol interface is compliant to the CE-ATA 1.1 specification as defined by the CE-ATA consortium as well as the ATA over MMC specification. In addition, the CE-ATA core supports ATA-on-MMC revisions 1.0 and 1.1.
