The JPEG-E (Baseline JPEG Decoder) core implements a high-performance image or video encoder that complies with the ISO/IEC 10918-1 JPEG standard. It provides a solution for a variety of image and video compression multimedia applications, and is capable over 30 frames/second for 4:3 HDTV, or 1440 x 1152, 4:2:0 MPEG-2.
 
The core can process both baseline and non-standard motion JPEG streams. An optional add-on bit-rate control block is available that may benefit applications with tight bandwidth constraints.
 
The JPEG-E core is designed for reliability and ease of integration, and has been proven in a number of ASIC and FPGA designs. Included in the deliverables is a software bit-accurate model that facilitates on-chip verification.
