LatticeMico8 Microcontroller Captures the Gold Medal

- Company's Soft IP Core Ranks First in Reader Interest -

HILLSBORO, OR - JANUARY 23, 2006 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that its LatticeMico8™ microcontroller soft IP core has won the gold medal in ICC Media's reader interest survey. (Click here to view the results.)

ICC Media publishes print and online media for embedded systems development engineers in Europe, including ECE (Embedded Control Europe) magazine, Boards & Solutions magazine, the Embedded News online newsletter and the Embedded-Control-Europe.com portal. ECE magazine is the leading Pan-European information source for embedded engineers, providing its readers with information about new products, technical trends, hardware applications, software, tools, services and technologies.

According to editor Jurgen Hubner, ICC Media published close to 1,000 product news stories in their print and online media in the second half of 2005. Based on reaction to these stories, ICC Media calculated a "reader interest score" for each news story. Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards have been given to the products with the highest reader interest score in ten product categories. The LatticeMico8 microcontroller won the Gold in the "PLDs, ASICs and IP" category.

"Eight-bit microcontrollers continue to play a major role in our customers' designs," said Stan Kopec, Lattice corporate vice president of marketing. "Our LatticeMico8 IP and its open intellectual property (IP) core license satisfy our customers' needs for a flexible, silicon-efficient solution that can be modified easily, when needed, to meet specific application needs."

About the Lattice Mico8 Microcontroller

The LatticeMico8 product is an 8-bit "soft" microcontroller core for the LatticeECP™ , LatticeEC™ and LatticeXP™ families of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) as well as the MachXO™ family of Crossover Programmable Logic Devices. In order to encourage user experimentation, development and contributions, Lattice is providing a new open intellectual property (IP) core license, the first such license offered by any FPGA supplier. The license applies many of the concepts of the successful open source movement to IP cores targeted for programmable logic applications.
