Industrial Temperature-Qualified LatticeXP2 Devices Released to Volume ProductionMany applications, such as medical imaging, HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems, robotics and display controllers, require special temperature-tested components in order to operate properly in industrial conditions. Such systems not only have specific temperature requirements, but also often have tight form factors where space is at a premium and more processing power is desirable. For many such systems, the LatticeXP2 FPGA family is an ideal solution. In response to increasing demand, Lattice has released an industrial temperature-certified version of this popular device family. Available in low-cost, small-footprint BGA or QFP packaging, the LatticeXP2 now offers an industrial temperature option, in addition to standard commercial and automotive temperature ranges. Its flexiFLASH technology includes Flash memory blocks along with a programmable fabric to enable a single-chip solution, without the need for external boot memory, offering a lot of processing power in a small footprint.

A single-chip solution offers many advantages. Besides the obvious cost and real-estate advantages, it also increases the overall reliability of the system since there are fewer components to break down. Freed-up board space can be utilized for further value-added design. With on-board DSP blocks, a DDR2 memory interface and 7:1 LVDS support, the LatticeXP2 also delivers a lot of raw processing capability for demanding industrial applications like image processing and display control.
