Q: Lattice recently introduced the SSO Analyzer with the release of the ispLEVER 7.1 design software. What is SSO and how can I use this tool?
A: SSO stands for Simultaneous Switching Outputs and refers to the noise induced on a device output when it is driving high or low. SSO can vary greatly depending on I/O configuration and placement. To estimate the amount of SSO noise in your design, use the SSO Analyzer tool integrated into the ispLEVER Design Planner. Start by providing information about your board and I/O placement, then simply click on the SSO button for an analysis. Using the results, you can modify the I/O placement or I/O settings to reduce the SSO noise.
