New Boards and Hardware Support the Latest Lattice Products

Three boards provide a ready-made platform for LatticeXP2 and Power Manager II evaluation and development.

We’re excited to announce two new evaluation boards to support the LatticeXP2 FPGA, as well as one new board for the ispPAC Power Manager II family. Whether you’re interested in learning more about the performance of Lattice products, or in the middle of completing your own solution, Lattice boards can help you achieve your goals.

Be sure to check the Lattice website for the full specifications of these boards, and more information on other boards featuring Lattice programmable products.

LatticeXP2 Standard Evaluation Board

The LatticeXP2 Standard Evaluation Board features a rich set of interfaces and connectors designed to help you with evaluation and development with the LatticeXP2 FPGA. At the heart of the board is a LatticeXP2-17 FPGA in a 484-fpBGA package. 1Mbyte (256k x 32) of SRAM memory is included on-board, primarily for microprocessor/microcontroller applications, but useful for general purposes as well. A compact flash connector is also available. Mayny peripheral components (in addition to compact flash memory) are available in this form-factor, enabling easy customization to your particular needs. A number of general purpose LEDs, 7-segment LED, push-buttons and switches give you an array of I/O functionality. If you need more, you can add an LCD display to the interface provided. SMA landings are included to allow for external clock sources and reliable measurement of PLL performance.

The board also includes both A/D and D/A converters  (Burr Brown ADS7842, DAC7617), to help evaluate the DSP capabilities of the LatticeXP2, and interface to external DSP systems.

The board’s power requirements are handled by Bellnix BSV-m DC converters which are, in turn, managed by the Lattice ispPAC-POWR607 Power Manager II device.  This combination provides a flexible and reliable power sequencing/control to match your target environment.

The board includes an integrated USB Download cable, letting you connect the board directly to your PC for quick and easy programming.

Although the LatticeXP2 is a non-volatile FPGA, the board does include an optional external SPI Flash, allowing you to store an alternate configuration for the LatticeXP2.

LatticeXP2 Advanced Evaluation Board

The LatticeXP2 Advanced Evaluation Board includes all the features of the LatticeXP2 Standard Evaluation Board, and adds a number of additional capabilities. The three most significant are:

  • 32-bit PCI edge connector
  • DDR2 SDRAM SO-DIMM socket (32-bit)
  • Tri-Speed Ethernet PHY (with RJ45 connector)

By using Lattice’s IPexpress (included with the ispLEVER Design Software), you can configure, integrate, and implement a full solution for any of these interfaces and try it out in hardware.

Another important addition to the LatticeXP2 Advanced Evaluation Board are two LVDS video (Tx/Rx) MDR-26 connectors. These will help you evaluate the capability of the LatticeXP2 to process and drive LVDS video streams.

The LatticeXP2 Advanced Evaluation Board includes two USB microcontrollers. One is used to program the FPGA via a standard USB cable (like the LatticeXP2 Standard Evaluation Board). The other can be used for development of USB applications, and interfaced via standard USB type A/B connectors.

ispPAC-POWR607 Evaluation Board

The ispPAC-POWR607 Evaluation Board is one of the simplest and smallest of the Lattice evaluation boards. This board gives you a quick and easy way to check out the power sequencing and monitoring capabilities of the ispPAC-POWR607 Power Manager II device. At the heart of the board is an ispPAC-POWR607 device in a space-saving 32-QFN package. LEDs are provided to monitor the power control outputs. Two push-button switches are available for user input. Direct access to I/O pins on the ispPAC-POWR607 device is available, along with a generous prototype area. The board can be powered via a standard 9V battery, also included.

Both analog and digital features of the ispPAC-POWR607device can be easily configured using PAC-Designer software. The device can be programmed via the provided JTAG pins with any Lattice ispDOWNLOAD Cable (a PC-Parallel cable is included with each board).
