Lattice Semiconductor Reduces Outlook

HILLSBORO, Ore. - June 7, 2001 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that it expects revenue for the June 2001 quarter to be down 30 percent, plus or minus a few percentage points, versus the revenue reported in the March 2001 quarter. Management believes this shortfall is the result of a general decline in PLD consumption within the communications and computing end markets.

For the June 2001 quarter, the Company expects gross margin as a percentage of revenue to be consistent with the prior quarter. The Company also expects proforma operating income to be approximately 20 percent of revenue and earnings before goodwill (EBG) to be approximately 18 percent of revenue.

"Semiconductor and PLD market conditions remain poor", stated Cyrus Y. Tsui, president and chief executive officer. "Our business has stabilized at extremely low levels. As we have no visibility, our current outlook assumes no near term improvement in business levels. Should conditions improve, we are hopeful of a return to sequential revenue growth in the second half of 2001."

"Although our immediate outlook is subdued, we remain optimistic regarding the longer term prospects of the programmable logic market and our own competitive position. Accordingly, we continue to invest aggressively and cost effectively in new product development activities in order to expand our product portfolio and market coverage while maintaining our profitability", Tsui concluded.
