Lattice Expects No Impact On Current Or Next Quarters' Financial Results Due to Taiwan Earthquake

HILLSBORO, Ore. - September 23, 1999 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that it anticipates no impact on its financial results for either the September or December ending quarters as a result of potential supply disruption of Lattice's products due to Tuesday's earthquake in Taiwan.

Lattice Semiconductor sources its semiconductor products from wafer foundries in the U.S., Japan and Taiwan. Currently, the company purchases a substantial majority of its wafers from Advanced Micro Devices in the United States and Seiko Epson in Japan. In addition, Lattice's new BFW products are being manufactured at Seiko Epson. Lattice has a long-term foundry partnership agreement with UMC Group in Taiwan from which it currently procures approximately 10 percent of the company's products. For device package assembly, subcontractors in Taiwan account for less than 5 percent of all Lattice requirements.

The company maintains substantial product inventory at its domestic and international distributors as well as abundant inventories of finished, assembled and die based products at its factory. This protects against short-term disruptions in supply as well as unexpected upturns in market demand.

"We are confident that the financial results of our September or December ending quarters will not be adversely impacted by any potential disruption in Lattice wafer supplies from Taiwan due to the earthquake," said Steven Laub, Lattice's Chief Operating Officer. "Our primary concern is the welfare of UMC's employees, their families and the Taiwanese people."
